It’s not easy to trust God in hard times. One thing I do know, though, is that God is always faithful and he does not change. His character and his nature is always good, even when life is not. Sometimes though, it’s hard even to have the words to pray when you are in a difficult circumstance.

I don’t understand why I have to face such a difficult loss. It’s not fair, God. Don’t you see how painful this is? Even in my pain, Lord– I give it to you. I know that no matter what, you don’t change. Help me to remember that you hurt when I hurt, God. Help me to trust you even in this difficult and terrible loss. May your strength be made perfect in my weakness. Amen.

O most holy God, I come to you completely shocked and heartbroken. It’s hard for me to even fathom this cancer diagnosis. How could you let this happen to me? Why would you allow sickness over my body? What am I going to do? How am I going to take care of my family? Even though I don’t understand, you, God–were not surprised by this diagnosis. You go before me and behind me. You can make a way in this wilderness that I am going to have to walk through. Please be my good shepherd, guiding me into safety and peace. Heavenly Father, I thank you that you see me. I thank you that I can come to you, just as I am. Father, I am hurting. This divorce is painful, in so many ways. God, I don’t understand why this has all happened like this. It doesn’t make sense, and I just feel like I am spiraling out of control. But God, you remain in control over all the earth. Help me, Jesus, to trust you. Help me each day to walk in your truth and righteousness. Help my children, Lord. Comfort them during this process. Be our safe place and our refuge. Dear Jesus, we have hit the end of the road with our finances. One thing after another keeps coming up, and we continue to get behind. Lord I am trying to be a faithful steward of my money, but things just keep getting worse. Help me to trust you as the provider. Help me to use wisdom in our finances. Lord Jesus, I don’t know what to do. It seems any decision that I make could be the wrong one. To be honest, I just want to run and hide, and not make any decision at all. I can’t seem to hear from you. I don’t know what to do, God! Please help me trust you. Help guide me in my decisions. Help me to know that you are more than able to handle anything that comes my way. And finally, help me remember that we were never promised an easy or pain-free life on this earth. Our hope is in heaven. But while I am here, help me to trust you, even in this hard time. Amen
